Position: IT Data Specialist

Job Summary:
As an IT Data Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our organization’s data infrastructure and processes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring data availability, integrity, and security, while also supporting data analysis and reporting needs across various business functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain data storage solutions, databases, and data warehouses to support business operations and analytics.
- Develop and enforce data management policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and implement data integration solutions for smooth data flow between systems.
- Monitor and optimize data performance, including database tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information, including access controls, encryption, and data masking.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data-related issues, ensuring prompt resolution with minimal disruption.
- Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and data flow diagrams.
- Stay updated on emerging data management technologies, database systems, and data governance, and recommend improvements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- General Programming Skills (.NET, PHP, SQL preferred)
- Data Analysis and Attention to Detail
- Problem-Solving
- Software Design and Development Fundamentals (including documentation and testing)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Proven experience (2 years) in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning (optional), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
Database Administration Skills (preferred):
- Proficiency in database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
- Experience with data governance frameworks and practices
Minimum Requirements:
- Two (2) or more years programmer experience
- Two (2) or more years data entry experience
- Knowledge of web technologies (REST and JSON)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer
